Layer, a San Francisco, CA-based company delivering open layer architecture for Internet communications, received an investment from Social Discovery Ventures (SDV).
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Led by Ron Palmeri, Founder & CEO, and Tomaž Štolfa, co-founder, Layer allows developers to add messaging, voice, and video communications into their apps.
It currently serves clients including Trunk Club, Forbes, Hinge, Udacity, and Onefootball.
A winner at TechCrunch Disrupt 2013 in San Francisco, the company has previously raised over $22m from investors including AME Cloud Ventures Anthem Venture Partners, Ash Patel, Bloomberg Beta, CrunchFund, Data Collective, Dream Incubator, e.ventures, Fuel Capital, Gordon Rubenstein, Greycroft Partners, Homebrew, Morado Venture Partners, Pacific Partners and Promus Ventures.
