Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) acquired Magic Pony Technology, a London, UK-based developer of machine learning based solutions for visual processing on web, desktop and mobile.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Led by CEO Rob Bishop and CTO Zehan Wang, Magic Pony Technology has developed machine-learning based approaches for visual processing on web, desktop and mobile with over 20 pending patents.
The company’s technology will be used to improve the visual experiences that are delivered across Twitter’s apps, accelerating their research rate and growing the team, which will serve as the European base for its machine learning efforts.
According to Angel List, investors in Magic Pony included Entrepreneur First, Chris Mairs, Xen Lategan, Andrew J Scott, Suranga Chandratillake, Andrew Gault, Chris Wade, Tom Wright and Yoel Flohr.
