Data.world, an Austin, Texas-based data startup, raised $14m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Shasta Ventures with participation from other Capital Factory, Chicago Ventures, Floodgate, Fyrfly Venture Partners, Homebrew, Lead Edge Capital, LiveOak Venture Partners, Rothenberg Ventures, as well as angel investors Clayton Christopher, Herb Simon, John Mackey, Matt O’Hayer, Josh Kopelman, Philip Berber, and Ralph Mack.
Led by CEO Brett Hurt, CTO Bryon Jacob, COO Matt Laessig, CPO Jon Loyens, data.world provides a platform that allows people to solve complex academic, commercial, and societal problems. People can find relevant data from a wide range of sources, manage numerous file formats, understand data’s meaning in ways that can be enhanced and shared, and contribute and discuss data to trigger collaboration.
The company operates as a public-benefit corporation.
