Mobile Privacy Market Platform Silent Circle Raises $50M in Series C Funding

silentcircleSilent Circle, a Geneva, Switzerland-based mobile privacy market platform, raised $50m in Series C funding.

The round was led by Santander Bank. In conjunction with the funding, cybersecurity investor Bob Ackerman joined the Silent Circle board.

The company will use the capital to expand product development, customer service, business development and marketing activities while eliminating its debt.

Co-founded Mike Janke, Phil Zimmermann, and Jon Callas, and led by Interim CEO and General Counsel Matt Neiderman, Silent Circle provides an Enterprise Privacy Platform (EPP) featuring:
– a silent phone application providing secure calling, conferencing, messaging, file sharing and video, available via a user download;
– a secure smartphone based on an Android operating system;
– encrypted calling plans, providing calling to land and mobile lines of non-subscribers in more than 100 locations around the world; and
– a silent manager delivering organization-wide user management via a web-based administration console.
