Modo Labs, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of a mobile engagement platform that allows staff to create campus apps, raised $10m in funding.
Backers included Education Growth Partners, Storm Ventures and New Magellan Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Andy Kaplan, Managing Partner of EGP, will join Modo’s board along with Storm Ventures and New Magellan Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to scale product development, customer support and marketing efforts.
Led by Stewart Elliot, CEO, Modo Labs offers a mobile engagement platform for universities and corporations that enables both technical and non-technical staff to create campus and enterprise apps to engage students, employees and customers.
Its offerings include:
– Kurogo Mobile Campus, which accesses and mobilizes any data source or dynamic feed, such as maps, social media, news, videos, transit information, etc.,
– Kurogo Publisher, which allows non-developers to create or enhance their native apps with modules for any special purpose or event, and
– Modo Communicate, which ensures that mobile apps created on the platform become a central communication hub for the entire organization.
The company currently has more than 125 customers in the higher education, enterprise and hospital markets.
