Refinery29, a NYC-based digital media company focused on women, raised $45M in a new funding round.
The round was led by Turner, with additional participation from Scripps Networks Interactive. In conjunction with the funding, Christina Miller, president and general manager of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang, will take a seat on Refinery29’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to develop original video content across a range of new formats and channels and accelerate global growth driving the development of new and innovative products and services for advertising and platform partners.
In addition, Turner and Refinery29 will work together on content creation and development tied to programming across the Turner networks that will engage Refinery29’s core audience of millennial women. The two companies will also collaborate on cross-platform ad sales partnerships.
Led by co-founders and co-CEOs Philippe von Borries and Justin Stefano, Refinery29 is a digital media company focused on women producing a variety of lifestyle stories, original video programming, and social, shareable content with an audience of 27M+ monthly uniques on its website and global reach of 225M+ across platforms.
