Hangar, an Austin, TX-based software company specializing in autonomous data capture using drone technology, raised $6.5m in seed financing.
The round was led by Lux Capital with participation from Fontinalis Partners, Haystack Partners and several angel investors. In conjunction with the funding, Bilal Zuberi, partner at Lux Capital, will join Hangar’s Board of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to build the platform, that is currently in beta, expand its development team and integrat industry-specific technologies to deliver more value to customers.
Founded by Colin Guinn, former CRO of 3D Robotics (3DR) and CEO of DJI North America, and Jeffrey DeCoux, founder and CEO of eCustomers and SMART technologies, Hangar will provide high-quality aerial data across multiple industries utilizing a combination of advanced software and drone technology.
The beta, now available to select users, is expected to open to the broader community later in 2016.
