Imzy, a Salt Lake City, UT-based online and mobile destination for online communities around interests, lifestyle, hobbies, and relationships, raised $8m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Index Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Danny Rimer, a partner at Index Ventures, joined Imzy’s board of directors.
The company, which has raised $11m in total to date, intends to use the funds to continue to develop the platform and its features to improve the user experience and expand operations.
Led by Dan McComas, Imzy provides a platform where users can join communities based on interests, hobbies, lifestyle, fandoms, and connect with people all over the world.
The platform allows people to decide how public their community is and who can participate, decide what kind of content can be shared in a given community, have the kinds of discussions that make the most sense for a community, manage permissions for all the leaders and enjoy a built-in payments and subscription system to get rewarded for their work and content they create.
Imzy is available online and on iOS and Android.
