Paperspace, a Brooklyn, NY-based virtual desktop startup, raised $4m in seed funding.
Backers included Data Collective, Ludlow Ventures, Initialized Capital, Digital Ocean co-founder Jeff Carr, etc.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to launch the product and expand operations.
Co-founded by Daniel Kobran and Dillon Erb, who graduated from the Y Combinator Winter 15 class, Paperspace provides a cloud-based computer that people can access from anywhere. Always on, backed up, and scalable, it leverages a GPU-accelerated DaaS/VDI platform capable of running high-end media rich applications and 3D graphics. Its proprietary protocol delivers near-native performance directly in a web browser.
Paperspace for Teams provides a web-based management console which includes enterprise features like 1-click backups, monitoring, custom templates, shared drives, etc.
