Otonomo, an Herzliya, Israel-based cloud connected car platform startup, raised $12m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Bessemer Venture Partners with participation from StageOne Ventures, Maniv Mobility and LocalGlobe. In conjunction with the funding, Steve Girksy, a former vice chairman of GM, joined both Otonomo’s boards of directors and of advisors. In addition, Mary Chan, a former general manager of OnStar, joined the board of advisors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand business operations and continue to develop its technology.
Led by CEO and co-founder Ben Volkow, Otonomo is advancing a cloud based technology platform that allows car manufacturers, drivers and commercial service providers to leverage a new ecosystem and market for advanced in-car services and applications. Commercial service providers and developers use the platform to develop, integrate and launch new digital services and apps for cars.
The company, which has additional offices in Menlo Park, CA, is currently hiring.
