CurrencyFair Closes €8M in Funding

currency-fairCurrencyFair, a Dublin, Ireland-based peer-to-peer currency exchange, closed an €8m ($8.8m) in funding.

Backers included existing investors Octopus Ventures and Frontline Ventures.

Founded in 2009, CurrencyFair provides businesses and individuals with a platform to transfer money into different currencies, with users buying and selling currencies directly between themselves.
Beyond the funding, the company is also announcing new CEO Paul Byrne, new CFO Ruth Fletcher and new chief product officer Sylvie McDermott. In the meantime, co-founder and former CEO Brett Meyers moved to a new chief strategy officer position.

CurrencyFair is regulated and authorized by the Central Bank of Ireland.
