Playground Global, a Palo Alto, CA-based venture capital firm, has launched the raise of its second fund.
According to a regulatory filing with the SEC, Playground Ventures II, L.P., targets to raise $500m. No investors have participated in the offering, yet.
Founded by Andy Rubin, Bruce Leak, Matt Hershenson, and Peter Barrett, Playground Global partners with companies building hardware and software systems that instrument and augment the physical world. It leverages a design studio that provides startups with the tools to elaborate product design, with experts in fields such as Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Software, Industrial Design and Manufacturing Operations.
Past investments include eero, Bodyport, Subpac, Nixie, Nervana Systems (recently acquired by Intel), etc.
