-

clearlabsClear Labs, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based food analytics platform for retailers and manufacturers, raised $13m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Wing VC, with participation from Google Ventures, Tencent, Khosla Ventures, and Felicis Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Michael R. Taylor, former FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine, joined Clear Labs’ Board of Directors.

The company intends to use the funds to advance its software offerings, continue to build out its family of NGS food tests, and expand its commercial operations.

Founded in 2013 by Sasan Amini, CEO and co-founder, and Mahni Ghorashi, co-founder, Clear Labs provides a food analytics platform which uses proprietary Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques to allow retailers and manufacturers to protect their brands and ensure high standards of food quality. The platform enables customers to determine the objective quality and safety of their products, assess and reduce risks of contamination and recalls, streamline food safety programs, and eliminate blind spots throughout their supply chains.
