Hungryroot, a NYC-based provider of vegetable based packaged food, raised $7.7 million in funding.
Backers included Lightspeed Venture Partners, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, and Crosslink Capital, among others.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to hire new people and increase its marketing efforts.
Led by Ben McKean, Co-Founder and CEO, and co-founder Franklin Becker, Hungryroot offers meals, sides, sweets, spreads and breakfast items that are packed with protein, fiber and nutrients and ready-to-eat in under 7 minutes. The items are sold through the website, and retailers including Fresh Direct, Amazon Fresh, and some Whole Foods locations.
