The Players’ Tribune Raises $40M in Series C Funding

The-Players-Tribune-blackThe Players’ Tribune, a NYC-based premium athlete-generated content platform, raised $40m in Series C funding.

The round was led by IVP with participation from GV, New Enterprise Associates, Thomas Tull, GenTrust and individual athletes.

The company intends to use the funds to further scale its content offerings, and to expand its video production, sales and editorial operations, while also developing new distribution and revenue opportunities.

Founded by retired Yankee player Derek Jeter in 2014 and also led by Jaymee Messler, president, The Players’ Tribune is a platform featuring content from more than 1,200 influential athletes across sports via long- and short-form written features, videos, audio and photography.
