Tinybop, a Brooklyn, NY-based educational kids app developer, received a minority investment from Sandbox Partners.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed. With the investment, Sandbox Partners took a seat on the company’s board and became the largest institutional shareholder.
The company is using the proceeds to build a constellation of apps for kids, scale the business and expand its operations worldwide.
Led by Founder and CEO Raul Gutierrez, Tinybop has created 13 apps to date combining engineering, design and education and including illustrations and intelligent animations, kid-friendly designs and tools for parents, such as information-rich dashboards and handbooks.
The Digital Toys is a series of five open-ended building apps that empower kids to create and play with whatever they can imagine. The Explorer’s Library – a series currently comprising eight inspirational and interactive playscapes for kids — is designed to teach STEM fundamentals while enabling a deep understanding of the world.
