Akua Raises $3m in Seed Funding

-

Akua, a Baltimore, MD-based IoT platform for the supply chain, raised $3m in seed funding.

The round was led by Crosslink Capital, with participation from Talis Capital and the San Francisco-based Enterprise Security Syndicate.

The company intends to use the funds to advance the development of its IoT gateway platform, and accelerate the growth of its logistics and supply chain market.

Led by Founder and CEO Neil Furukawa, Akua provides a gateway platform that uses a Data as a Service (DaaS) model that integrates into existing business process systems and data analytics platforms of cargo owners, empowering them with direct, real-time information on the condition, location, and progress of their time-sensitive products. Security features include end-to-end data encryption, and a patented, re-useable gateway device that provides physical security of cargo containers.
