Deep Sentinel, a Pleasanton, CA–based provider of AI-based home protection solutions, closed $7.4m in venture capital funding.
The round was led by Shasta Ventures with participation from Bezos Expeditions, the personal investment company of Jeff Bezos, Lux Capital, and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar’s UP2398.
Founded by artificial intelligence (AI) pioneer David Selinger, CEO, and and Winston Chen, who leads engineering efforts both in the US and Taiwan, Deep Sentinel has developed a home protection platform to predict and stop crime in real time through a combination of AI, computer vision and camera hardware. The algorithms are trained to understand if a crime is about to occur and to trigger alert systems to enable intervention before the level of the crime escalates. This AI software is fully integrated into Deep Sentinel’s outdoor camera solution.
The company, which has filed four patents around its new approach to AI and its uses in home security, will use the funds to continue to develop its solution.
