Fishpeople Seafood Closes $12M in Series B Funding

-

Fishpeople Seafood, a Portland, Ore.-based mission-driven sustainable and traceable seafood brand, closed a $12m Series B financing.

The round was led by Advantage Capital Agribusiness Partners with participation from 3×5 Partners, S2G Ventures, Encourage Capital, Blueberry Ventures and Collaborative Fund.

The company intends to use the funds for expansion of distribution of its consumer product lines available in retail grocery stores as well as its newly available “for chefs” line of foodservice options, accelerate product innovation to make seafood available to consumers in a broader array of product formats, and drive brand awareness.

Led by Ken Plasse, CEO, Fishpeople is a certified “B” Corporation that works with small-scale fishermen to catch only abundant species of fish and ensure consumers have access to the highest quality seafood in its sustainably-sourced Seafood Kits, fillets and soups.

Products are currently available in Whole Foods, Safeway/Albertsons, and more than 5,000 natural and conventional grocers nationwide, with additional retail growth planned through 2017.
