Descartes Labs, a Santa Fe, New Mexico-based provider of machine learning powered satellite imagery, raised $30m in Series B funding.
The round was led by March Capital with participation from existing investors Crosslink Capital and Cultivian Sandbox and customer Cargill.
The company will use the funds to continue to expand operations.
Led by Mark Johnson, Co-Founder and CEO, Mike Warren, Co-Founder and CTO, Descartes Labs leverages AI and high-performance cloud computing to provide a cloud-based platform for the application of machine intelligence to massive data sets.
Today, the company uses satellite imagery to model complex systems on the planet, like forestry and agriculture. It processes data flows from all the major satellite constellations at scale to provide instant access to analysis-ready images of the entire world in a massive, searchable, on-demand interface.
Descartes Labs spun out of Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2015.
