Rubrik, a Palo Alto, CA-based cloud data management company, received an investment from NBA champion and accomplished entrepreneur Kevin Durant.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Durant, who has also joined as a board advisor, will leverage his experience to advise the B2B tech company on strategic initiatives, on content development opportunities through his Thirty Five Media business arm, which includes his YouTube channel.
Durant is a member of the 2017 NBA Championship Golden State Warriors and the MVP of the 2017 NBA Finals. Through The Durant Company, he is a venture capital investor in technology companies including Postmates, Acorns and Propel.
Founded in 2014 by Bipul Sinha, CEO, Rubrik provides a cloud data management platform for businesses, governments and nonprofit organizations around the world to keep and use their data. It delivers instant application availability with data protection, search, analytics, archival and copy data management.
To date, the company has raised over $292M in funding from venture capital firms such as IVP, Lightspeed Ventures, Greylock Partners and Khosla Ventures as well as angel investors including John W. Thompson, Chairman of Microsoft; Frank Slootman, former CEO of ServiceNow; Mark Leslie, former CEO of Veritas; and Dheeraj Pandey, CEO of Nutanix.
