Anchor, a New York City-based podcast platform provider, raised $10m in Series A funding.
The round, which brings the total amount raised to nearly $15M, was led by GV with participation from Accel, Betaworks, The Chernin Group, Eniac Ventures, Homebrew, Nir Eyal and Craig Kallman. In conjunction with the funding, M.G. Siegler of GV and Brian O’Malley of Accel will join Anchor’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to develop the platform and expand operations.
Anchor provides a platform for people to create podcasts, share (on platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) and interact with audio, via an Android and iOS app. Listeners can share their favorite segments anywhere.
Its bite-sized format of listening has attracted people from nearly 200 countries throughout the world, including both new creators and professionals.
