Iconic Protein, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based provider of a line of protein drinks made with grass-fed dairy, raised $8m in funding.
The round was led by private equity firm KarpReilly with participation from beverage entrepreneur Bill Moses (KeVita, Casa Barranca Organic Winery, Fermented Sciences Inc.), who will join Iconic as the company’s executive chairman, Lance Collins (CORE Hydration, Bodyarmor, Fuze Beverage), Gunnar Lovelace and Nick Green, founders of Thrive Market.
The company intends to use the funds to build out its senior leadership team and invest in product innovation.
Launched in 2013 by CEO Billy Bosch, Iconic uses dairy protein from grass-fed cows in New Zealand to produce a ready-to-drink beverage line which is hormone, antibiotic and preservative free.
Retail partners include HEB, Sprouts, Wegmans and Rouses Markets.
