Nanoport Technology, a Sunnyvale, Calif. — based R&D lab for mobile technologies, secured $7m in funding.
The round was led by Horizons Ventures with participation from BrightSpark Ventures, Kensington Capital Partners and Nano Magnetics.
The funding will used to expand research and development facilities and accelerate commercial partnerships.
Led by Tim Szeto, CEO and Founder, Nanoport specializes in the development of advanced solutions for connectivity, haptics, multi-device applications and human-device interfaces. Nanoport also offers a range of specialized components for close-range communication, power transfer and modular device interactivity. The company recently introduced an integrated universal magnetic connector used for seamlessly joining and cooperating mobile devices, and the TacHammer, a new type of haptic actuator based on a magnetically balanced impact mechanism.
