Tovala, a Chicago, IL-based food-tech company, raised $9.2m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Origin Ventures with participation from Pritzker Group, Y Combinator, Joe Mansueto, and Larry Levy.
The company will use the funds to continue to expand operations.
Led by David Rabie and Bryan Wilcox, Tovala manufactures and provides a domestic cooking appliance paired with a weekly meal delivery service.
Customers can order their steam oven and choose a Meal Box size that works for them. The company’s single serving box gives users 1 serving of 3 Tovala Meals for $36 each week. The Double Serving box gives users 2 servings of 3 Tovala Meals for $72 each week.
