Magic Leap Raises $461M in Series D Funding

-

Magic Leap, a Plantation, Florida-based augmented reality focused company, raised $461m in Series D funding.

The round, which brings total funding to over $2.3 billion to date, was led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, which joined already announced investors Temasek, EDBI, Grupo Globo from Brazil, Janus Henderson Investors, Alibaba Group, Fidelity Management and Research Company, J.P. Morgan Investment Management, and funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc.

Led by CEO Rony Abovitz, Magic Leap is reportedly building new display technologies and develop sensor suites that can map environments and its own operating system.

The company is using the funds to expand operations and finally launch its first product, an AR headset built for developers.
