Scotty Labs, a San Francisco, CA-based developer of technology that enables people to remotely control self-driving cars, raised $6m in seed funding.
The round was led by Google‘s AI-focused fund Gradient Ventures with participation from Horizons Ventures, Hemi Ventures, SRI International, Social+Capital, Neuron.vc, Gravity Ranch, Graph Ventures, David Sacks, Rob May, Pete Kazanjy, Immad Akhund, Evan Moore, etc.
The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and continue to develop its tech platform.
Led by Tobenna Arodiogbu, Co-Founder and CEO, Scotty Labs provides a tele-operations platform that enables humans to virtually control cars in a highly dynamic environment. The company is advancing a platform for companies building autonomous vehicles to have the ability to bring humans into the driving technology development process.
Scotty has already signed on its first partner, Voyage, to support their work mission as they continue to deploy their autonomous fleets safely in more communities around the country.
