Smartcar Raises $10M in Series A Funding

-

Smartcar, a Mountain View, CA-based connected car platform, raised a $10m Series A financing.

The round was led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA) with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z). In conjunction with the funding, Forest Baskett from NEA and William Krause from a16z will join Smartcar’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to grow the team, iterate on its core platform, and build out the developer experience to support more vehicle brands.

Led by Sahas Katta, co-founder and CEO, Smartcar provides a connected car platform that lets developers read vehicle data and send commands using HTTP requests to any vehicles in a single engineering suite. By using embedded telematics hardware already present in vehicles, developers can use the company’s suite of SDKs and comprehensive API docs to get started and build apps to communicate with vehicles.

The platform provides developers with the APIs, SDKs, and documentation they need to build innovative connected car experiences.
