Bira 91 Raises $50M in Third Funding

Bira 91, a craft beer brands out of India, has received its third round of funding of $50M.

The round, which brings total funding to over $100M to date, was led by Belgian investment firm Sofina with follow on participation from Sequoia Capital India.

The company intends to use the funds to expand the India business five-fold over the next three years and establish a leadership position in the Indian premium beer market, further accelerate its global footprint with expansion in the US market, as well as Asia Pacific, including Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

Led by founder and CEO Ankur Jain, Bira 91 has built a portfolio of essential beers and aims to drive the global shift in beer towards more color and flavor.
Established in the summer of 2015 by B9 Beverages and headquartered in New Delhi, the company has a team of over 350 beer lovers, operates two breweries in India, and has offices in nine cities including New York City.
