Menstrual Care Startup Rael Secures $2.1M in Funding

Rael, a Buena Park, CA-based menstrual care startup, secured $2.1m in funding.

The round was led by SoftBank Ventures Korea with participation Thrive Market and other investors.

The company intends to use the funds to improve product, grow its team and expand overseas.

Launched in 2017 by Aness An, Binna Won, and Yanghee Paik, Rael provides a menstrual care platform dedicated “to educating and empowering women with healthy period products that don’t sacrifice comfort or performance“.
Its offering now includes pads, pantyliners and biodegradable tampons made with 100% certified organic cotton, as well as period underwear, facial sheet masks and cleansing washes and wipes via Amazon, various e-retailers and its own e-commerce site (GetRael.com).
The products are already available to purchase in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan and South Korea.
