Armored Things Raises $5.5M in Seed Funding Round

Armored Things, a Boston, MA-based company that uses Internet of Things devices and their data to keep large venues safe, completed a $5.5m seed round of financing.

The round was led by Glasswing Ventures and iNovia Capital with participation from MassVentures, an early stage, Massachusetts-focused venture fund. In conjunction with the funding, Rick Grinnell, Glasswing Ventures Founder and Managing Partner, and Todd Simpson, Partner at iNovia Capital, will join the Board of Directors of Armored Things.

The company intends to use the new capital to ramp up product development efforts and increase sales and marketing efforts in advance of the initial product release slated for early next year.

Led by Charles Curran, CEO, Armored Things is advancing a predictive cyber-physical incident response platform. to keep people safe in large shared spaces like schools, stadiums, and streets. The company provides security operations with early warnings of risks, information to assess threats, and responses through automation using existing IoT and mobile devices and systems.
