The RealReal, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of authenticated luxury consignment solutions, raised $115m in Series G funding.
The round, which brought total funding to $288m in equity capital, was led by PWP Growth Equity with participation from Sandbridge Capital and Great Hill Partners. As part of the investment, Chip Baird, co-founder and partner of PWP Growth Equity, will join The RealReal’s board of directors.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its brick-and-mortar presence into new markets, as well as support its supply of luxury goods with new e-commerce fulfillment centers.
Led by CEO and Founder Julie Wainwright, The RealReal provides an authenticated luxury consignment service. The company’s 90+ in-house authenticators inspect thousands of items daily ensuring the authenticity of every item it sells.
Consigning is made with free in-home pickup, drop-off service and direct shipping. In its stores, customers can shop, meet with experts, and attend workshops to learn more about authenticity and sustainability. In addition, expert staff provides free jewelry, watch and handbag valuations at eight luxury consignment offices.
