Spyce, a Somerville, Mass.-based restaurant featuring a robotic kitchen that cooks complex meals to order, closed a $21M Series A financing round.
The round was led by Collaborative Fund and Maveron, with participation from existing investor Khosla Ventures, Chef Thomas Keller, Chef Jerome Bocuse, and Chef Gavin Kaysen, who joined Culinary Director Chef Daniel Boulud as culinary angel investors in Spyce.
The company intends to use the funds to open a number of restaurants on the East Coast and further develop the robotic culinary platform.
Led by Michael Farid, CEO and cofounder, Spyce is a restaurant featuring a robotic kitchen that cooks complex meals to order. The company, which opened its first restaurant in Boston, was founded by four MIT graduates who’ve teamed up with Michelin-Starred Chef Daniel Boulud.
It expects to hire additional employees to roughly double in size over the next year.
