Basis, a San Francisco, CA-based mental health care company, raised $3.75m in funding.
The round was led by Bedrock, with participation from Wave Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
The company will use the funds to launch the service.
Founded by CEO Andrew Chapin and CSO Dr. Lindsay Trent, Basis provides clients with same-day access to specialists trained in research-backed approaches (specifically, motivational interviewing and structured problem solving) to working through tough moments.
The sessions are designed to fit into people’s life like a workout class or a phone call with a friend, rather than a visit to the doctorās office.
Every specialist completes extensive training developed by Stanford psychologists in research-backed approaches.
It works by allowing users to sign up on the app or website and complete a questionnaire so Basis can learn about their needs and match them with an expertly trained specialist. Sessions focus on how they can feel and function better despite whatever they are facing. Every session ends with a concrete takeaway and plan. Clients are able to schedule a session anytime that fits into their schedule as soon as a few hours in advance, and all sessions are confidential and anonymous.
Sessions cost $35 for a 45-minute focused conversation.
