Caribu, a Miami, FL-based interactive reading & drawing platform, raised $1.3m in funding.
The round was led by Be Curious Partners, and John Cooper of Halestreet, a former Microsoft executive and current Managing Director at Houlihan Lokey, with participation from Revolution’s Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, and AT&T.
The company intends to use the funds for the rapid expansion of the platform in the US and into more global markets.
Led by CEO Maxeme Tuchman, Caribu provides an education platform that enables parents, extended family, and mentors to read and draw with children when they’re not in the same location.
The screen sharing app allows families in over 140 countries to read and draw together in real-time through a video-call.
Caribu now has plans to launch a brand new version of their iOS mobile app, (available currently only on iOS,) and a new Android app later this year which will offer more personalization and interactivity.
