FundamentalVR, a London, UK and Boston, MA-based virtual reality training and data analysis technology platform, raised £1.1m in funding.
Tern Plc (AIM: TERN), the investment company specializing in the Internet of Things, made the investment.
The funding will be used to continue FundamentalVR’s efforts to develop its platform.
Led by Richard Vincent, CEO & Founder, FundamentalVR provides Fundamental Surgery, a SaaS software platform that combines virtual reality (VR) with haptics (the sense of touch) to create a low-cost and scalable flight simulator experience for trainee and qualified surgeons.
FundamentalVR also signed a a three-year agreement with Mayo Clinic to deploy its surgical simulation training platform – Fundamental Surgery – in its centers of excellence and jointly develop immersive new products.
In addition, Mayo Clinic is deploying the company’s current surgical training simulations in its centers in Arizona, Florida and Minnesota to help train surgeons on Spinal Pedicle Screw Placement, Posterior Hip Replacement and Total Knee Arthroplasty procedures.
