NTT Venture Capital, the corporate venture capital arm of Japanese telecom company NTT Communications, closed its first fund, at $500m.
According to an SEC filing, Vab Goel, former general partner at Norwest Venture Partners, was the person related to the raise.
The creation of NTT Venture Capital was driven by the launch of rapidly evolving technologies and business models, as well as the aggressive expansion of innovative competitors and aims to boost the company’s R&D division.
The main investment area of the fund will be digital technology.
NTT Communications is the global data and IP services arm of telecom leader NTT (TYO: 9432). The company’s solutions are backed by a worldwide infrastructure, including global tier-1 public and private networks reaching over 190 countries/regions, and more than 400,000m of the world’s most advanced data center facilities.
