Collectable, a Boston, MA-based technology company that brings together historical and real-time pricing data from sports memorabilia auctions, raised $500k in seed funding.
Backers included:
- Evan Mathis, former Super Bowl champion NFL player and notable sports card collector,
- Jason Epstein, co-founder of CastleRock REO, and
- Larry Richmond, founder of AVATAS Payment Solutions (acquired by Cayan) and dealer of high-end sports and historical memorabilia.
Jason Epstein will be joining Larry Richmond and company founder and CEO David Yoken on Collectable’s Board of Directors.
The company intends to use the funds for the rapid development and launch of the marketplace.
Collectable provides sports collectors with access to historical auction prices and real-time data on current auctions through its iOS and Android apps. With over 2 million historical sales dating to 1999 and over two dozen auction house customers, the company publishes a comprehensive data set of historical prices and active auction listings.
Its new peer-to-peer marketplace provides a secure trading experience for the sports collector community.
