Orca AI, an Israeli provider of a new solution combining artificial intelligence and imaging technology to help vessels avoid costly collisions, raised $2.6m in seed funding.
The round was led by MizMaa Ventures with participation from Ray Carriers and The Dock.
Founded in 2018 by Yarden Gross, CEO, and Dor Raviv, Orca AI provides intelligent navigation tools for the maritime industry to prevent collisions. Its AI technology supplements existing onboard sensors with thermal and low light cameras as well as an AI-powered navigation and vessel tracking system to allow ships to get an accurate, real-time view of the environment, detect ships in any situation at both long and short distances, providing them with sufficient time to remedy their course and avoid a collision. The solution will also be able to recommend course corrections and actions to avoid potentially dangerous situations and represents the first step in introducing autonomous and semi-autonomous features to vessels already on the water.
Orca AI has already been installed and piloted onboard several ships owned by Ray Carriers.
