Airbnb, the popular community driven hospitality company, is acquiring HotelTonight, a San Francisco, CA-based booking platform focused on last-minute offers from boutique and independent hotels.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
The acquisition will allow AirBnb to build an end-to-end travel platform serving every guest, adding the team and the platform of HotelTonight to offer guests an improved last-minute travel experience that provides hospitality on every trip, on any schedule, at any time.
Led by Brian Chesky, Co-Founder, CEO and Head of Community, Airbnb has built a global community of hosts and guests, connecting travelers to more than 6 million places to stay and tens of thousands of experiences around the world. Guests are using the platform for every kind of trip, including business and last-minute travel. Today, more than 400,000 companies are using Airbnb to manage their travel, and same-day bookings are now growing 2x year over year.
Led by Sam Shank, Co-founder & CEO, HotelTonight provides a mobile app for last-minute hotel bookings up to seven days out. The HotelTonight app and website will continue to operate as they do today. Once the acquisition is complete, Shank will report to Greg Greeley, Airbnb’s President of Homes, and lead AirBnb’s boutique hotel category.
