Cambridge Innovation Capital plc, a Cambridge, UK-based venture capital firm focused on intellectual property rich technology and life science businesses in the Cambridge ecosystem, completed a funding round of £150m.
The financing – which brings the total amount of capital raised to date to £275m – was supported by a geographically diverse range of new institutional and strategic investors, with the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Endowment Fund contributing the cornerstone investment.
Led by Victor Christou, CEO, CIC will use the funds to support its current portfolio of 25 companies and enable investment in new opportunities arising from both the University of Cambridge and the wider Cambridge ecosystem.
Among others, the portfolio includes Inivata, PragmatIC, Imagen, and GeoSpock.
Goldman Sachs International acted as sole and exclusive placement agent in connection with this fundraising.
