mPower Technology Secures $2.5M in Series A Funding

-

mpowermPower Technology, an Albuquerque, NM-based innovative solar cell technology startup, raised $2.5m in Series A funding.

Backers included Santa Fe-based Sun Mountain Capital.

The capital will be used to commercialize mPower’s solar cell technology, DragonSCALEsTM, in the aerospace market.

Led by Kevin Hell, president and CEO, mPower Technology has developed new technology called DragonSCALEs™ (SemiConductor Active Layer Embedded solar), an interconnected mesh of miniature solar cells. Leveraging affordable materials, processes, and tools from the silicon photovoltaic (PV) and microelectronics industries, DragonSCALEs enable completely new design options for solar power, removing the constraints of existing silicon and gallium arsenide solar solutions, and enabling light-weight designs that can be rapidly deployed at low cost.
In particular, they are considered an ideal solution for the aerospace market.
