Winnie, a San Francisco, CA-based marketplace for childcare and early education, raised $9m in Series A funding.
The round was led by Rethink Impact, with participation from Reach Capital, Impact America Fund, Unusual Ventures, Ludlow Ventures, Afore Capital, Day One Ventures, Kairos, and April Underwood, the former Chief Product Officer at Slack.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to expand operations and its business reach.
Founded by Sara Mauskopf and Anne K. Halsall, Winnie allows parents to discover local daycares and preschools and learn about their programs. They get access to detailed information like tuition information, licensing status, and parent reviews for each program.
Winnie helps match parents looking for childcare to high-quality providers who have open spaces in their program as well as helps providers run and grow their business.
The company has expanded its comprehensive childcare data from 500 cities to over 7000 cities.
