Roofstock, an Oakland, CA-based online marketplace for investing in the $3 trillion single-family rental home sector, closed on a $50m Series D equity funding round.
The round – which brought the total amount of equity raised to date to $133m – was led by SVB Capital with participation from Citi Ventures, Fort Ross Ventures and 7 Global Capital as well as prior round lead investors Khosla Ventures, Bain Capital Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Canvas Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to invest in its data science, product and engineering capabilities, expand its retail supply and distribution network and roll out Roofstock Platform Services, the companyās latest service which lets institutional investors build their own tailored portfolios of single-family rental homes.
Founded in 2015 and led by Gary Beasley, CEO and Co-Founder, Roofstock allows investors of all sizes to buy, own and sell investment properties. It gives users access to market and neighborhood data, combined with analytical tools that make it easy to compare and contrast different investment properties across the country. The company has facilitated more than $2 billion in transaction volume through its marketplace to date.
