Hopin, a London, UK-based remote live online events company, raised £5m ($6.5M) in seed funding.
The round was led by Accel, with participation from Northzone, Seedcamp, Web Summit’s Amaranthine Fund and Slack Fund, and angels Ilkka Paananen, Daniel Dines, Des Traynor, Carlos Gonzalez-Cadenas and Andrei Khusid. In conjunction with the funding, Luciana Lixandru, who led the investment for Accel, will be joining the board.
The company intends to use the funds to continue to build out its platform, expand its team and quickly scale.
Led by Founder and CEO Johnny Boufarhat, Hopin is an online venue where organizers can create, host and manage live events for up to 100,000 attendees. With its Event Builder, it takes only a few minutes to set up an event, such as a meetup, intra-company all hands meetings, hackathon, or conference. Each event can be built as either online-only or layered on top of an existing offline event. Since July last year, the company has seen over 1,000 events hosted on the platform.
