Overtime, a sports company dedicated to the next generation, acquired Evade, a Fortnite organization.
The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
Overtime has also formed a new team, Overtime Gaming, which will serve as the framework of its esports and gaming-related initiatives by combining Evade and Team Overtime, the company’s existing Fortnite team. In one year, Evade has grown into a significant presence within the Fortnite world, with a community of more than 600,000 followers and a strong roster of competitive players. Team Overtime’s players have set Fortnite world records and placed in top tournaments like Twitch Rivals and Fortnite Champions Series (FNCS) since the team’s formation in 2018.
Combining those teams into a single organization gives Overtime a huge roster of YouTubers, streamers and pros with an audience of more than 10 million followers. Overtime Gaming has also signed five current Evade players, including Kariyu, Orange, Pocket, Spayde and Tweaks, and is actively seeking additional talent to join the team. These initial signees join Overtime’s existing Fortnite players: Aircool, Inspyre and Thresh. Evade’s owner, Hantao Yuan, will serve as the head of Overtime Gaming. Overtime Gaming will also create lifestyle content via OvertimeTW, a team formed in December to create content around gamers who play the 2K video game. This team will operate as a team-within-a-team as a part of Overtime Gaming.
Founded in 2016 by entrepreneurs Dan Porter and Zack Weiner, Overtime covers the world’s top emerging talents in basketball, football, soccer and gaming. Its videos are now viewed more than one billion times each month across Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook. Overtime’s investors include Spark Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Sapphire Sport, Greycroft, NBA All-Star Kevin Durant and the late NBA Commissioner David Stern.
