WorkGenius, a Hamburg, Germany-based provider of a technology solution for mid-size and enterprise companies to source, manage and pay freelancers, raised $7m in additional funding.

Backers included existing investors Axel Sven Springer, grand son of publisher Axel Springer, John Jahr, grand son of publisher John Jahr and Oliver Heine, member of Axel Springer’s advisory board.

The company, which has raised total funding to +$20M, intends to use the capital to expand operations and its business reach.

Led by Marlon Rosenzweig and Daniel Barke, WorkGenius provides a technology solution for mid-size and enterprise companies to source, manage and pay freelancers. The proprietary technology handles selection and verification of results, IP transfers, invoicing and delivery to reduce overhead for companies and freelancers. Blue chips like DHL, Unilever, Colgate, Wilson Athletics and fast-growing companies like Flywire, About You, Homeadvisor and Quickbase are clients of WorkGenius. The company also has offices in Berlin and New York City, and employs 75 full-time employees.
