Gatsby Raises $28M in Series B Funding

Gatsby, a Berkeley, Calif.-based web development platform provider, raised $28m in Series B round of funding.

The round was led by Index Ventures with participation from CRV and Trinity Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Index Ventures Partner Shardul Shah joined Gatsby’s board of directors.

The company intends to use the funds to expand product capabilities.

Led by Kyle Mathews, CEO, Gatsby is a Software-as-a-service open source web development tool and framework which is customizable and extensible for any purpose. Its modular architecture, based on open source technologies Javascript, React, and GraphQL, allows developers to use tools and services to create a site serving nearly any use case. The framework offers over 2,000 plugins, many contributed by Gatsby’s open source community of over 3,300 contributors, for getting sites up and running with the latest web technologies.

Users include Fortune 500 companies such as IBM, PayPal, Harry’s, and major digital agencies, among others.
