Sonder Raises $170M in Series E; Valued at $1.3 Billion

According to a written note, Sonder, a San Francisco, CA-based home renting company, raised $170m in Series E funding.

The round post-money valued the company at $1.3 billion and brought Series E total to approximately $ 200m.

The round was led by Fidelity Funds, Westcap and Inovia Capital with participation from Greenoaks, Spark Capital, Greylock, Valor Equity, Tao Capital, Atreides Capital, and Lennar.

The company intends to use the funds to expand operations and its business reach, including new functions, services and partnerships.

Co-founded by Francis Davidson and Lucas Pellan in 2014, Sonder leases apartments to turn them into furnished short-term rentals with modern design, a dining area, living space and extra bedrooms. To date, Sonder has hosted hundreds of thousands of guests in over 20 cities and received over $400m in total funding.
