Hatchback Cottages, a Seattle, WA-based provider of design, financing, permitting, and construction software for backyard cottages, secured a second round of funding of undisclosed amount.
Led by CEO Shannon Loew, Hatchback Cottages is a mission-driven company that offers a solution for backyard cottages (DADU’s). They manage the entire process – including design, financing, permitting, and construction – to provide homeowners with flexible options and long-term rental income for their future. Using a tailored economic pro forma, the platform shows homeowners how their cottage will perform based on their location, finances, and intended use (rental, age-in-place, etc.).
Hatchback provides a complete solution for homeowners to understand the economics, aligning financing, and offering an array of designs to fit Seattle’s different neighborhoods. They then handle the entire permitting and construction process. The company is an incubation from FIX Impact Development, a 13-year-old real estate design firm that solves place-based challenges with system solutions.
Ron Sher, developer of Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue, Washington, and creator of the Third Place Books, and Dale Sperling, former CEO of Unico and founder of OneBuild, join former Weyerhaeuser Real Estate CEO Peter Orser on the Board.
